Problem sets are "spot graded" - that is, random questions will/may be graded. You will receive credit based on that/those evaluations, as well as on the overall effort expended on the remaining problems. You should nevertheless go over all of your answers, checking against the answer keys. Understand where, if anywhere, you went wrong. Problems similar to homework problems will appear on the exams!

Important commentary:

The final column below, "Projected Total" assumes that your final exam score will be the average of your 3 exams so far. From this, you can "predict" how you might be doing in the class overall. Of course, exceptional performance on the Final can raise that score, while a weak performance can lower it. Your mileage may vary...

Exam 3 scores were low. In particular, the material in Problem 4 did not seem to get across. As before, I offered a chance to regain up to half of the lost points (from Problem 4 only). The column header below "+Extra" reflects your exam score plus extra points.

I have been scoring the homeworks based on a very loose spot grading. However, on both exams and homework, you must show your work in order to receive credit for a correct answer. Showing your work will, of course, help with incorrect final answers.

Also, please pay attention to units. Many of you are showing your work without units, until the final answer. This is very dangerous and many have already gotten wrong answers with otherwise correct logic.


Exams 1 and 2: The results from the first exams are listed below. Note that alongside your total score, in parentheses, is the version number of the exam you took. Use this to download the appropriate answer key.

The score for Exam 2 now includes ("New") the adjusted score, which is the original exam score, plus the extra points from the in-class exam retake.
