Molecular Visualization

Molecules larger than a few atoms adopt three dimensional structures which are often difficult to portray via flat representations (books, computer screens, etc).

Fortunately, software exists which allows one to "play with" a molecular structure, rotating it in response to mouse movements, providing better intuition for actual structure.

One such piece of software is a free Netscape "plug-in" called CHIME (requires Netscape V3.01 on Mac or PC). General information on this plug-in (and a free-standing program called "Rasmol") can be obtained from Professor Eric's Martz's CHIME WEB pages. For those who know what they're doing, the plug-in is available directly. Download the file, copy the plug-in into your Netscape plug-in subdirectory (folder), and then quit and restart Netscape.

To see any of the molecules, please install the CHIME plug-in into your Netscape V3.01 browser before accessing the following.
