OWL Electronic Homework System

for Chem 267, 268

You will be rostered for the course soon after the first meeting of class. After you are rostered, you will be notified via email that you may begin doing the assignments. Please do not submit a login request unless you have a problem after this time.

If you are unable to log in even though you are sure that you are rostered and have gotten in previously, you may have changed your password and forgotten it (if you changed your password in another organic course (e.g., Chem 265 or 266), even in a previous semester, that changed password may be carried over to this course.). If you get to the invalid login page go back to the student login page and select "Login Help" and follow the directions.

Be sure to check the email address that is registered for you in the OWL database (once you log in, clicck on "user info") and correct it if necessary. Important announcements will be emailed to you throughout the semester. Using your UMass email address is highly recommended (be sure to keep it active by not allowing it to go over quota.)

Both Prelab and Postlab OWL assignments are available for many experiments. The OWL grade will count as 15% of your final grade. For credit, an assignment must be done by the deadline. For prelab assignments the deadline is generally 11:59 PM on the evening prior to the lab period during which that lab will be carried out (Wed night for a Thur lab). For postlab assignments it is generally 11:59 PM on the day after the next lab is done (generally a Friday). It is entirely up to you to be sure that you meet the deadlines, which are given at the OWL LogIn page. Personal extensions will not be granted except in cases of extreme personal hardship. Such cases will require a note from your academic dean. There is no partial credit for late work.
