Homology

• The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) at the National Center for Biotechnology Information found only slight similarity to p45548, a "hypothetical 32.9 kd protein in cysg-trps intergenic region (F292)" in E. coli.
• A more careful FASTA search at the Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology Computing Center revealed a second similar protein sequence in its results, p33985, which is a RNA polymerase sigma-54 factor in Rhizobium meliloti, a nitrogen fixing bacterium in alfalfa. However, these scores were not stunning either.
• Gap predicted a % similarity of 33.333
